Rocks Riverside Park

Rocks Riverside Park is a spacious riverside destination in Brisbane’s Indooroopilly area, covering about 26 hectares across three distinct sections. The park combines open lawns, riverflat scenery and natural areas with views towards a dry eucalypt forest, giving visitors plenty of room to spread out, wander or settle in for a picnic. The Western Lawn and Great Lawn provide broad green spaces, while the riverfront promenade offers a more defined route beside the Brisbane River.

There is plenty here for an easy family day out. Children can use the water-play area, which includes a paddling pool, rock pools and fountains, as well as two playgrounds, a jumping pillow and a liberty swing. Adults can cook lunch on the electric barbecues, picnic beneath eucalyptus trees or pick up a coffee or pre-packaged snack from the kiosk near the jumping pillow. The 800-metre riverside promenade is suitable for walking and riding, and the wider path connects with Sinnamon Park and the Western Freeway Bikeway.

The park also has a clear sense of place. It was formerly the site of the Queensland Cement and Lime Company, and public art and industrial artefacts remain as reminders of that past. Those details add interest beyond the lawns and play facilities, particularly for visitors who enjoy seeing how former industrial sites have been incorporated into public space. Water bubblers, picnic tables, shelter sheds, wheelchair-accessible toilets, a half-size basketball court, walking tracks and a community garden are among the other listed facilities.

Rocks Riverside Park suits families, casual groups and solo visitors looking for outdoor space by the river. Dogs are welcome on a lead, although off-leash exercise is directed to Delapine Place Park. For larger gatherings, the Entrance, The Green and The River can be booked, with different capacities and facilities; the booking applies to the selected site, while barbecues and playgrounds remain shared with other park users. Onsite parking is available, with additional street parking around Counihan Road and surrounding streets.
