Why it's worth checking out

White Lies Brewing 2 is a Brisbane brewery and distillery built around house-made drinks, casual gatherings and plenty of room to settle in. The venue has indoor seating, two beer gardens and space for up to 300 people, making it suitable for a relaxed drink, a group celebration or a larger function. Walk-ins are welcome, while table bookings are available for anyone who would rather have a spot organised in advance.

The drinks list extends beyond beer. The brewery’s lineup includes the Neighbourhood Pale Ale, an American pale ale with a malty base and passionfruit and citrus hop character, along with the single-hop Fire Strata Hazy Pale Ale and the deep-red Red IPA. For something a little different, the range includes Hard Sarsaparilla, Ginesis Whiskey aged in French oak and Finger Lime Gin, which is described as bright and citrus-led with a tart finish. The venue also offers cocktails, ready-to-drink drinks on tap, red, white and sparkling wine, and soft drinks.

Food is supplied by Yeastie Boys Wood Fired Pizzas, with the kitchen operating from Wednesday to Sunday. The venue’s site describes the pizza offering as a match for its handcrafted beers and notes that weekly specials are available. Takeaway beer is also available, including four-packs and cases, and the brewery can fill growlers, squealers and corny kegs brought in ready to use.

White Lies began in Pullenvale in 2013, founded by head brewer Lee McAlister-Smiley, before moving to Sumner in 2016 and expanding to Seventeen Mile Rocks. White Lies II opened in October 2023, with the brewery at the centre of the venue and capacity for 300 beer drinkers. It is a practical choice for groups and functions, but also welcomes families and dogs, with dogs required to stay in the beer gardens. Live music is held occasionally rather than every week, so it is worth checking the venue’s updates before visiting.
