Why it's worth checking out
Zero Fox is a Korean and Japanese kitchen and bar in the London Woolstores on Vernon Terrace, Teneriffe. The venue describes itself as the project of two locals who enjoy food and drinks and wanted to take a slightly different approach. Its offering combines a food menu with wine, gin, beer and non-alcoholic options, making it suitable for a meal with drinks rather than a quick takeaway stop.
The food is arranged around small plates, sushi and sashimi, and bowls, with a mix of Korean, Japanese and broader Asian influences. Standout dishes listed by the kitchen include garlic butter pipis with chilli and perilla, salmon tataki with Korean slaw and smoked yoghurt dressing, and okonomiyaki topped with vegetables, bonito flakes and a fried egg. There are also takoyaki, pan-fried pork or vegetable dumplings, kimchi fries, Korean corn ribs and two styles of kung pao chicken, including a spicy version with tteok.
For sharing, the bao options include bulgogi beef, soft-shell crab, and a vegan combination of mushroom and sweet potato. Other meat-free choices include edamame, lotus dip, smashed cucumber salad and Korean corn ribs. The website marks several dishes as vegan or gluten-free, but it also warns that not every ingredient is listed and that the kitchen does not alter menu items. Guests with allergies are advised to check before ordering.
With its combination of a bar and Korean-Japanese kitchen, Zero Fox could work for a date, a catch-up over several small plates, or a group wanting to share different dishes. Solo diners can also choose from individual plates, sides and drinks. The venue operates on a walk-in-only basis, with no bookings, so it is worth planning around that before heading to Teneriffe. The website lists service from midday until late, seven days a week, and notes Sunday and public holiday surcharges.
