VENTspace

VENTspace is a creative venue in South Bank, Brisbane, built around the idea of giving artists and makers a welcoming place to create, collaborate and celebrate. It combines coworking facilities, private artist workspaces, a shooting studio and an event venue, making it broader than a conventional gallery visit. Members of the public can also book the studio or event space for their own projects and gatherings.

The venue is home to more than 30 resident artists working across music, filmmaking, photography, creative writing, fashion design and visual art. Their practices are supported by communal facilities and a professional working environment, while the venue’s stated focus on safety, openness and creative experimentation gives the space a distinctly community-minded character. The venue’s 2024 review gives a sense of its activity, recording more than 110 events and 190 shoots during the year. Its creative programme and resident community have included projects such as visual artist Madeline Holt discussing her process and use of the space, and Australian contemporary and post-graffiti artist Jordache creating a large abstract mural over a week.
