Why it's worth checking out
Ruma Rooftop is a New Farm restaurant built around the idea that good food is best enjoyed together. Its cooking draws on tropical regions and island heritage, with a focus on shared dining, generous flavours and a relaxed sense of occasion. Chef Felipe Oliveira leads the kitchen, while the Chef’s Table experience offers a closer look at the menu and its preparation.
The setting is a key part of the experience. Above Little Lane in the heart of New Farm, the rooftop combines open air, lush textures and a sun-washed feel with a lively but easy-going atmosphere. It is designed to feel transportive without losing its connection to Brisbane, making it a natural choice for a catch-up, celebration or unhurried meal with friends.
Sunday’s long lunch is the venue’s clearest expression of that social approach. Guests can choose between a House shared menu of fresh, seasonal dishes or a Premium version with more indulgent produce and signature preparations. Both options are designed for the whole table, with two hours of drinks included. The House package includes prosecco, wines and tap beers, while the Premium option adds Veuve Clicquot Brut Yellow Label NV, premium wines, tap beers and a seasonal signature spritzer.
Bookings are available from 11am to 1pm, with each reservation running for two hours and all guests at the table required to take part in the chosen menu. With its open-air rooftop, shared format and drinks-led long-lunch offering, Ruma suits groups looking to settle in for the afternoon rather than diners after a quick meal. The beverage list also includes mimosas, Bellinis and mocktails, giving the occasion a flexible finish.
