Why it's worth checking out
Ristorante Tartufo brings Naples-inspired Italian dining to 1000 Ann Street in Fortitude Valley’s Emporium precinct. The restaurant focuses on traditional Italian food, with fresh pasta, bread and pizza dough made in-house, alongside a wine list, cocktails, Italian beers and coffee. There is also a takeaway offering, including meals prepared hot or supplied cold or frozen for reheating at home.
The pizzeria is a central part of the experience. Tartufo serves Vera Pizza Napoletana, made according to the traditions recognised by the Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana, of which the restaurant is an official member. The kitchen shapes the dough by hand and cooks the pizzas quickly in the Neapolitan style. For a broader meal, the website also refers to an eight-course degustazione menu, while the à la carte menu provides another way to explore the restaurant’s classic Italian cooking.
The dining room is designed around a 1920s art deco influence, with vintage booths, rustic mirrors, tile mosaics, textured light fittings and embossed ceiling tiles. Guests can choose between the main dining room, outdoor tables overlooking the Emporium precinct, a seat at the bar or a more intimate booth. That range makes Tartufo suitable for a relaxed meal for two, a solo visit at the bar, or a larger gathering. The venue says its functions can accommodate groups from 12 to 140 people and that menus can be tailored to each occasion.
The restaurant is led by chef and owner Tony Percuoco, who grew up around his family’s restaurant in Naples before making Brisbane home. His family background and emphasis on hospitality shape Tartufo’s approach, with the team presenting the restaurant as a place to share Italian food and traditions. Since opening in 2010, it has established itself as a destination for traditional Naples-inspired food in Brisbane. Families and groups will find plenty of space and flexible dining options, while the warm, detailed setting also suits a date or an unhurried dinner.
