Why it's worth checking out
Lulu Ramen is a Japanese ramen bar in Rosalie Village, Paddington, built around chicken broth rather than the more usual pork base. The menu centres on two styles: clear chintan and creamy paitan, with both broths made from scratch and simmered for more than 12 hours. The venue describes itself as Australia’s first chicken broth ramen house, with vegan and halal-friendly options available as well.
The noodles are a major part of the offering. They are pressed fresh each morning on a YAMATO noodle-making machine, giving the team control over their texture and how they hold the broth. Every bowl includes unlimited noodle top-ups, making Lulu Ramen a practical choice for anyone who enjoys a generous, filling meal. The menu also includes Japanese sides, while the drinks list features sake flights, Japanese whisky, yuzu cocktails and matcha lattes.
There is a clear focus on process behind the food. Lulu Ramen’s story began in a home kitchen, where two people spent years refining their chicken ramen recipes and reworking batches that did not meet their standard. Today, the team prepares its toppings in-house, including its signature sous vide chicken breast, and keeps the menu deliberately focused on the two chicken broths. That attention to detail gives the venue a more specialised feel than a broad Japanese restaurant.
The space is tucked into the back lanes of Rosalie Village and is described as having murals across the walls, lanterns overhead and sake bottles displayed behind the counter. It should suit solo diners looking for a focused bowl, as well as couples or small groups wanting ramen with Japanese drinks and sides. Lulu Ramen is at Shop 6/21 Nash Street, Paddington, Brisbane, and also offers pickup ordering.
