Kangaroo Point Bridge

Kangaroo Point Bridge is more than a river crossing: it is a 460-metre route linking Kangaroo Point with Brisbane’s CBD, designed for walking, cycling, sightseeing and commuting. Opened in December 2024, the bridge has dedicated pedestrian and cycle paths, with a minimum width of 6.8 metres and a maximum grade of 1:20. It can be reached from Scott Street in Kangaroo Point or from the corner of Alice and Edward streets in the CBD.

The bridge’s elevated position makes it a useful spot for taking in Brisbane’s city and river scenery. Shaded seated areas and viewing platforms look towards the skyline, Brisbane River, Kangaroo Point Cliffs, Story Bridge and City Botanic Gardens. Shade cover runs along the pedestrian side, while cooling vegetation and solar panels are incorporated into the bridge’s design. Lift access connects the Kangaroo Point landing with C.T. White Park, with access onwards to surrounding greenspaces, gardens and parks.

There are also two dining venues on the bridge and at the city landing. Stilts restaurant and bar sits above the bridge deck on the approach to the city landing, with casual and formal seating, a private dining room and panoramic views across the CBD, river, Story Bridge, cliffs and botanic gardens. At the city landing, Mulga Bill’s is a riverside café at the entrance to the City Botanic Gardens, beside the urban plaza where Edward and Alice streets meet the Brisbane River. Both venues are operated by the Tassis Group.

The bridge suits visitors who want to combine a walk or ride with views, a rest in a shaded area or a meal by the river. It is also practical for commuters and e-mobility riders, with connections to routes on both sides of the river, including the CityLink Cycleway and paths towards Main Street, Deakin Street and the eastern side of Kangaroo Point. Families, groups and solo visitors can use the bridge for an easy city outing, while the dining spaces offer a reason to linger rather than simply pass through.
