Emma Darrouzet Art

Emma Darrouzet Art is a Brisbane-based abstract art practice exploring the mind through colour, with a focus on experiences that are often invisible to others. Based in Fortitude Valley, the work considers mental health, unsolicited advice and the gap between what people mean to say and what someone in distress may actually need to hear. The titles are deliberately satirical and reflective, giving the paintings and prints an accessible entry point into serious subjects.

The online collection includes original paintings, limited-edition prints, commissions, homewares and gift cards. Standout print titles include “Why are you being so awkward?”, “It’s not that deep”, “Have you tried just not panicking about it?” and “Relax, you’re embarrassing yourself”. The original paintings continue that dry, pointed humour with works such as “ADHD is a superpower!”, “Happiness is a choice” and “Have you tried going outside?”. Together, the collection uses familiar phrases to question the simplistic advice often offered around anxiety and mental health.

For something more personal, Emma offers bespoke commissions in several listed sizes, including 100cm x 100cm, 120cm x 90cm, 150cm x 100cm and 180cm x 120cm. Private abstract art workshops are also available for individuals, pairs and small groups. These are described as immersive, hands-on sessions shaped around each participant’s style, pace and creative goals, with an emphasis on building confidence through colour. That makes them suitable for a creative solo activity, a pair looking for a shared experience or a small group wanting a tailored session.

Emma’s practice is supported by formal study and a long history of creating and teaching art. She holds a Bachelor of Creative Industries with Honours in Fine Painting and undertook postgraduate Fine Painting study at the Colorado Academy of Visual Art. Her experience includes working at Ryan Renshaw Gallery in Brisbane, leading an art program at Sydney Children’s Hospital, exhibiting in Sydney and Brisbane, and volunteering in Arts in Health programs. Her work is a considered choice for people drawn to colour-led abstract art, thoughtful themes and art with a distinctly human point of view.
