Why it's worth checking out
Chermside Library is a practical community space on Hamilton Road, with areas for quiet reading, study and everyday library services. Its collections include books, magazines, newspapers, CDs and DVDs, e-books and digital resources, along with Chinese, Italian, Punjabi and Tagalog language collections. Visitors can also use internet access, printing, scanning, reference services and a media conversion station.
The library’s quiet room and three small study rooms make it suitable for individual work, interviews, group discussions and online meetings. Study rooms accommodate four to six people, are free to use and can be booked on the day, by phone or in person, for up to two hours per day. They are intended for quiet activity rather than soundproof meetings.
For larger gatherings, three meeting rooms are available for workshops, lectures and community or business use. Room capacities range from 40 to 60 people, and the rooms can be combined for up to 200 people. Facilities include free Wi-Fi, projectors or electronic whiteboards, wireless microphones, flexible tables, a kitchenette and accessibility features including wheelchair access and accessible toilets. Not-for-profit community use is free, while commercial bookings incur listed fees.
Families and carers may find the parents room, breastfeeding-friendly facilities and mobility device recharge station useful. The library is wheelchair accessible and includes a hearing loop in the meeting room. Off-street parking is available, and general library hours extend into the evening on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with shorter weekend hours. Chermside Library suits solo readers, students, families and local groups looking for a quiet, accessible place to read, work or meet.
