Why it's worth checking out
Trade Coast Hotel in Wynnum, Brisbane, brings together a bistro, public bar, accommodation, gaming and a bottleshop in a hotel that has been part of the region’s story for more than a century. Formerly known as the Pinkenba Hotel, or simply “The Pink”, it has been refurbished with a more contemporary feel while retaining strong links to its earlier identity and the surrounding port area.
Myrtle’s Bistro is the main draw for a casual meal with family or friends. Its menu includes steaks, hearty burgers, traditional wood-fired pizzas and other pub classics, with options intended to suit a range of ages and occasions. The public bar adds a relaxed place for a beer, wine or after-work catch-up, while the spacious beer garden offers another setting for an easy meal or drink.
The venue’s character comes from its history. The original hotel opened in 1910 after Scottish immigrant Ellen Bain successfully transferred the Myrtle Hotel from Myrtletown to Pinkenba. The building was dismantled, moved by bullock and rebuilt on its current site, following a long campaign to establish hotel accommodation near Brisbane’s port. Photo walls at the hotel tell more of the Pinkenba story, including the role played by Bain and the area’s changing industrial and residential life.
It is suited to a straightforward pub meal, a gathering with family and friends, a celebration or a quiet drink at the bar. The venue also offers functions, accommodation and a complimentary courtesy bus arranged through the bar staff. A member rewards programme provides points on food, bar and bottleshop purchases, with discounts and promotions available to members.
