The Wild Movement
A Milton movement and fitness studio with a perfect five-star average from 120-plus reviews.
Why it's worth checking out
The Wild Movement is a small-group gym in Milton, Brisbane, built around progressive strength, movement and bodyweight training. Sessions are capped at eight people, allowing coaches to adjust exercises and training variables for each member rather than running everyone through an identical programme. The gym says it works with people returning from injury, those with no previous training background and experienced athletes, with more than 50 sessions available each week, plus open gym times and lunchtime sessions.
Its main group options are Pack Strength and Pack Skill. Pack Strength combines coaching, individualised programming, accountability and a group environment to help members become stronger, fitter and more mobile. Pack Skill focuses on bodyweight control and skills, with coaching towards movements such as handstands, front and back levers, muscle-ups and tumbling; beginners are welcome. Personal training is available for people wanting closer individual attention, while online training provides either the gym’s programming or a programme tailored to a person’s goals, history, schedule and equipment.
The coaching team brings a range of backgrounds to the gym. Owner and strength coach Luke Sharp is also an exercise scientist, while head Pack Skill coach Sam Weatherhog has a professional gymnastics background and represented Australia. The wider team includes strength and movement coaches, a women’s health coach, an exercise physiologist, a yoga and handstand coach, and a calisthenics coach. That mix supports the gym’s emphasis on meeting members at their current level and progressing carefully.
For new members, the 21 Day Experience includes access to the weekly sessions, habit coaching, a nutrition consultation, a movement assessment and access to a recovery room with a sauna. Training options have a three-week notice period to stop or a five-day notice to pause, rather than a long lock-in contract. The Wild Movement suits people who prefer coaching and a close-knit training environment over a large commercial gym, whether they are starting from scratch, rebuilding confidence after time away or working towards more advanced movement skills.
