Why it's worth checking out
Night Feast brings food, art and performance together at Brisbane Powerhouse in New Farm for a month-long event running from 29 July to 23 August 2026. The non-profit event is produced by Brisbane Powerhouse with support from Brisbane City Council, and entry is free. It is open to all ages, making it a practical option for families, groups and anyone looking for an arts-focused outing in Brisbane.
The event is set within a temporary village inspired by Queensland fretwork, Cantonese lacquer and luminous neon. Brisbane chefs are invited to present exclusive dishes, creating a food-led experience that is paired with immersive art interventions, light installations and performance. The website names a broad group of participating food venues, including Poca Madre, Mexicana, Vici Italian, Norte, The 203, La Mano, Siam and Smash House. The programme also lists Blackbird Brisbane, Calida Steak & Bar, Aunty Dine M, Clarence, Hoy Pinoy, Central, Ruby, My Dear, Burn City Smokers, Pilloni, Gelato Messina, Donna Chang, Wonderbao and Sapporo Izakaya by Nonda.
The arts programme gives the event more to explore than dining alone. Total Vibration, by Jonny Niesche and Mark Pritchard, uses two facing mirrors that respond to an electronic soundtrack with movement and light. Ignite, by Amigo & Amigo, is a large interactive installation based on a communal bonfire, while Nixi Killick’s Joy Generator is designed as a place to connect, play and create shared moments. Other listed events include Vista by Stephanie Lake Company, a dance work built around rhythm and design; a live Three Food Memories podcast hosted by Savva Savas with author Frances Whiting; and a Southern Italian and Greek Festa dance workshop.
Night Feast is shaped by people with experience across food, festivals and design. Curator Lizzie Loel is a former chef, food and lifestyle writer and restaurant critic, while production designer Bruce McKinven has worked across major theatre, arts and festival projects in Australia. With its free entry, all-ages format and mix of dining, installations, listening spaces and live programming, Night Feast suits visitors who want to make an evening of exploring rather than simply book a meal.
Spot Score
The Spot Score is our composite of five signals — two about the venue's standing with visitors and three about how complete and current this listing is. It is not a visitor rating and not a verdict on the food or the experience. The 3.1 from 62 reviews is Google's visitor rating, shown separately and never altered by us.
