Why it's worth checking out
Hotel West End is a pub, bistro, bar and gaming venue on Browning Street in Brisbane’s West End. Its main dining space, Planter Bistro, focuses on modern Australian food in a polished but approachable setting, with chefs preparing dishes from produce sourced locally where possible. The menu includes pub classics and changing fortnightly Chef’s Specials, while a dedicated kids menu makes the bistro a practical option for families as well as casual meals with friends.
There are several spaces to choose from. The bistro provides the main dining experience, while the Terrace offers a more relaxed outdoor setting with high tables, greenery and share food. The Alcove Lounge combines the energy of the ground-floor bar with a semi-private area for groups, and the first-floor Stellar Room has its own bar, terrace, restrooms and lift access. These spaces are available for birthdays, engagements, graduations, corporate gatherings and other events, with capacities varying by room and seating style.
The café adds an earlier option, serving coffee, brekky muffins, sweet treats and other breakfast fare. Later in the day, the main bar is set up for drinks, informal meals and live sport, with a 160-inch screen showing Fox Sports coverage and events including NRL, AFL, UFC and cricket. The drinks list includes 17 beers on tap, along with wine, spirits, cocktails and mocktails, giving groups plenty of choice without needing to leave the venue.
Hotel West End also has a gaming lounge with gaming machines, complimentary hot and cold drinks and snacks, plus a TAB area with six televisions and access to TAB and Keno terminals. That mix makes it suited to a range of visits: families and diners in the bistro, friends watching sport, groups planning a function, or solo visitors stopping in for coffee or a drink. It is part of the Star Hotels group and also includes a Sense of Taste bottle shop with dedicated customer parking.
