FITA U Performance Centre
A Paddington performance gym with a perfect five-star average from 120-plus reviews.
Why it's worth checking out
FITA U Performance Centre is a personal training and small-group strength training studio in Paddington, Brisbane, built for busy career professionals aged over 40. Its approach centres on planned, coached sessions rather than relying on members to navigate a conventional gym alone. The programs are designed to help clients build strength, improve mobility and flexibility, develop more useful nutrition habits, add muscle, reduce waist measurements and support bone density.
The studio’s small-group sessions are capped so trainers can give attention to technique and adjust exercises for different ability levels. Sessions combine strength work with mobility and flexibility, with an emphasis on controlled movement and suitable regressions or alternatives where a client has an injury or medical condition. Personal training is also available, and the process begins with an initial consultation and pre-exercise screening to establish goals, starting points and any relevant limitations. The centre says there is no minimum fitness or strength level required, making it suitable for people who are new to structured training as well as those looking to return to exercise.
FITA U was founded by Ash Carucci, who moved into the fitness industry after a corporate career and experience coaching in traditional commercial gyms. His own difficulty fitting training around a demanding schedule helped shape the centre’s focus on calendar-friendly sessions, clear programs, accountability and functional strength training. Since 2017, the team says it has supported more than 100 busy Brisbane professionals over 40, with clients reporting changes including improved energy, flexibility, muscle mass and bone density.
The atmosphere described by the centre is supportive and community-oriented, with trainers and members encouraging people rather than expecting them to arrive already fit. The Paddington facility includes two showers, toilet facilities, towels, body wash, mirrors, hairdryers and storage for personal belongings, along with filtered water and a small espresso coffee machine. That setup is intended to make it practical to train before, during or after the workday. It suits solo clients wanting close coaching, or people who prefer the structure and encouragement of a small group, with nutrition and lifestyle education forming part of the broader service.
