Why it's worth checking out

The Healing Stone is a Japanese-style day spa on the 21st floor of the Emporium Hotel in South Bank, Brisbane. Its setting combines a dedicated spa experience with the hotel’s high-rise location, including the option to add time at the Infinity Pool and hotel sauna through selected packages. The spa’s approach centres on relaxation, respectful service and simple courtesy, with guests encouraged to slow down and enjoy the treatment.

Its standout offering is ganbanyoku, a Japanese hot rock therapy session carried out in a chamber built on volcanic basalt and capped with Himalayan rock salt. Rather than using water, the treatment involves lying on the heated rock surface. A 60-minute session can also be combined with massage or facial treatments, making it a distinctive option for anyone looking for something beyond a conventional day spa treatment.

Massage services cover several styles and needs. Shirabe combines deep tissue or shiatsu techniques with options such as reflexology and acupoint face massage, while Kotone uses specially prepared bamboo instruments. Osaji is the spa’s remedial massage, and Ibuki is a pregnancy massage available from the second trimester, with advance booking required. All massage services include a pre-treatment Japanese foot bath. The Utsukushi treatment combines an all-hand facial using Japanese facial products with massage on longer appointments, while the shorter facial includes head, neck and shoulder massage.

For a longer visit, the Nagi Signature Package pairs a relaxation massage with ganbanyoku. The Tawamure Spa Day Experience adds a two-hour Infinity Pool and hotel sauna pass to a facial or body treatment, as well as a drink at the Terrace Bar, subject to seasonal availability. These options make The Healing Stone suitable for a solo reset or a planned spa day with someone else, particularly for visitors who want to combine hands-on treatments with the hotel’s facilities. Guests with skin allergies are asked to contact the spa before booking, and several services require advance bookings.

Spot Score

The Spot Score is our composite of five signals — two about the venue's standing with visitors and three about how complete and current this listing is. It is not a visitor rating and not a verdict on the food or the experience. The 4.4 from 79 reviews is Google's visitor rating, shown separately and never altered by us.
