Le Bon Choix

Le Bon Choix brings French-style baking and pâtisserie to Fortitude Valley, Brisbane, with a broad selection made for eating in, taking away or ordering ahead. The bakery’s range covers pastries, bread, cakes, savoury pastries, pies, quiches, sandwiches and in-store beverages, while its online shop is geared towards cakes, catering and larger orders collected from a chosen store.

There is plenty to browse for a quick café stop, including the newly introduced ham and cheese croissant, an almond croissant, sour-cherry Danish, hazelnut éclair and pistachio pâtisserie. Savoury options include prosciutto and camembert on ciabatta, Croque Monsieur, quiche with caramelised onion and sweet potato, and soup served with sourdough and ciabatta rolls. The drinks range also includes a matcha collection available hot, iced or with a strawberry variation. For something to share, the cake range includes individual cakes and larger formats, with online ordering available for selected products.

Le Bon Choix describes its cafés as busy, welcoming spaces supported by early-morning bakers, pastry chefs and café staff. Its food is baked fresh each day, making the venue suitable for a solo pastry and drink, a casual catch-up or a simple takeaway. Catering extends the offering to office meetings and larger gatherings, with sandwich platters, pastry selections, sweet treats and artisan breads. The bakery also positions its boxes and fresh sandwiches as picnic-friendly options for weekends outdoors.

The business dates back to 2004, when founder and owner Savico Basset-Rouge opened the first Le Bon Choix in Albany Creek after relocating from Melbourne to Brisbane. Savico trained under pastry chef Laurent Boillon, and the brand later expanded from its Queen Street store to 12 locations across Brisbane, the Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast. Online orders are click and collect rather than delivery, so customers should allow lead time for bread, pastry, catering and larger cakes. Le Bon Choix also notes that it cannot currently provide gluten-free cakes because of the wheat-based production environment.
