Le Bon choix

Le Bon Choix brings a French boulangerie-patisserie tradition to Chermside, Brisbane, with a broad selection of freshly baked food for eating in, taking away or ordering ahead. The offering spans pastries, bread, sandwiches, savoury pastries, pies, quiches, cakes and in-store beverages. There is also a catering range built around sandwich platters, pastry selections, sweet treats and artisan breads, making it a practical option for meetings and group occasions.

The menu includes familiar bakery favourites alongside more distinctive combinations. The Ham & Cheese Croissant is made with flakier pastry, extra ham, cheese and béchamel, while the sandwich selection includes a Prosciutto & Camembert on Ciabatta and a Croque Monsieur. For something sweet, the range features an Almond Croissant, Danish Sour Cherry and Hazelnut Éclair. The café also promotes hot Sweet Potato & Capsicum Soup with sourdough and ciabatta rolls, as well as a Matcha Collection served hot, iced or with a strawberry twist. Le Bon Choix dates back to 2004, when founder and owner Savico Basset-Rouge opened the first boulangerie-patisserie in Albany Creek after relocating from Melbourne to Brisbane. Savico trained under pastry chef Laurent Boillon before establishing the business, which later expanded from its Queen Street store to locations across South East Queensland. The bakery says it continues to focus on authentic flavours, ingredients, preparation and processes, without taking shortcuts. For Chermside locals, it is a useful neighbourhood stop for French-inspired bakery fare, celebration cakes and food to share.
