Gasworks Plaza
A lively retail-and-dining precinct on a heritage gasworks site — 4.4 stars from 2,800-plus reviews.
Why it's worth checking out
Gasworks Plaza is a Teneriffe shopping and dining destination with a strong focus on eating out. Its website presents a mix of casual takeaway, restaurants and licensed venues, making it useful for a quick coffee or lunch as well as a longer meal with friends. There is also a regular programme of centre offers, events and retailer updates, with practical visit information including a centre map and parking details.
The food selection covers several distinct styles. Motto Motto brings Japanese cooking into a contemporary fast-casual setting, while its current Curry Collective offer features Japanese curry with a choice of protein and an optional Japanese fries combination. Italian Street Kitchen is built around shared Italian-style eating, including takeaway pizza, and Sunnyside Sliced focuses on 18-inch pizzas and pan pizzas. Other options include made-to-order salads with a Japanese influence at Fishbowl, sushi at Wara Sushi, and Australian seafood, live tanks and an on-site oyster bar at Reef Seafood and Sushi.
For a more substantial sit-down occasion, the plaza includes venues with clearly defined atmospheres. Nonda is described as a 110-seat Japanese restaurant with East Asian influences, a concrete-and-timber interior, green accents and large windows facing the plaza. Its menu combines Japanese foundations with Korean and Chinese flavours, alongside share-style dishes and a drinks focus spanning cocktails, sake, wine and beer. Mecca Bah offers Middle Eastern and Mediterranean food in a polished setting, with cocktails and wine, while Smokey Moo is an external dining precinct restaurant centred on low-and-slow American-style barbecue prepared in an open kitchen. Its menu includes smoked beef cuts and caters for gluten-friendly, halal and dairy-free needs.
There are also more casual, social choices. Milky Lane’s Newstead venue has indoor and outdoor seating for nearly 180 people, with burgers, desserts and cocktails in a graffiti-covered space featuring work by Soffles and Dallas Clark. Ping Pong combines Thai street food and cocktail slushies with prominent light installations. With takeaway options for solo diners, share-oriented restaurants for groups, and several venues suited to a relaxed catch-up or dinner, Gasworks Plaza offers a varied food-and-drink stop within Brisbane’s inner north.
